Programs

Since its inception, CUASVAHH Inc. Immigrant Services Program (ISP) has provided essential services to immigrants, most specifically Haitian and LGBT immigrants. As a Christian organization we advocate for justice, compassion and migration policies that reflects our Christian beliefs valuing the life, dignity and diversity of each person.

U-Visa & VAWA (Domestic Violence Related)

CUASVAHH, Inc. has been a leader among nonprofits in Nebraska in assisting immigrants who are victims of crime. CUASVAHH, Inc. was the first office in Nebraska to receive an approved U-Visa.

By providing legal immigration benefits to qualifying survivors, Congress has encouraged the reporting of crimes.

CUASVAHH, Inc. works with local police departments to gather evidence and to verify eligibility, then files the requisite legal documents and evidence. Many crime survivors have received work cards as a result, empowering them to live a safer and more independent life. These survivors can later adjust and receive Lawful Permanent Residence Status (Green Card) and eventually naturalize into United States Citizens.

This training/course will cover the specific skills involved in interpreting for behavioral health and immigration cases. The purpose of the training is to introduce interpreters to areas of immigration and behavioral health and working with clients who are trauma survivors. Interpreters will build upon skills they already possess from other fields such as court, community and medical interpreting. The training offers opportunities for interpreters to discuss and practice newly acquired skills.
